this is SET WEB,
SET Scheme stands for Energy Saving and Efficiency Tool, it is a major outcome of the SET project which is designed for textile companies to autonomously assess the energy consumption and energy performances in their production process, ultimately to improve energy efficiency.
The SET Scheme is made up of 4 elements:
- the SET Tool, a stand-alone software for self-assessment;
- the SET Web, (these web pages) for advanced benchmarking and comparison of the performances across years;
- a guiding document for using SET
- information on financial incentives and legal obligation completing the SET.
SET
The SET Tool runs on a Microsoft Excel application and is used to collect the factory data on energy consumption and production. Based on this input the tool calculates the factory’s energy indices and offers a selection of suitable best practices, graphic consumption representations, analysis of return on investment etc.
The SET Web is an online application and allows companies to benchmark, in strict confidentiality, the own energy performance data with data of comparable factories active in the same production processes.
The SET Web is based on a constantly updated database and it is a service free of charge for companies which contribute by sending confidentially their own energy data.
On the SET Web you can
- Look at examples in the demo pages showing elaborations, graphs, benchmarks
- Compare your factory’s energy performance with those of similar European companies
- Forecast models for energy consumption based on your technologies and production
- Compare your progress year by year
To use the SET Web you shall
- send your factory data through the SET Tool (the excel file)
- once energy data are succesfully uploaded, the SET Tool shows an UID and PIN. Use these credentials to access SET Web at any time.

How to start?
- Go to the EM2M Platform and download the SET Tool (click HERE)
- Fill the SET Tool with the data of your factory (one file for each factory)
- Upload data on the SET Web through the SET Tool
- Access the SET Web and use its services

Users have the right to access the SET Web services because they contribute to build up the SET database with real and valid company data.
The ENEA qualified personnel checks the quality of data provided, inconsistent data or clearly wrong information (e.g. total turnover = 1) may be removed from the database.
If an email is provided it can be contacted for double checking the data consistency.
In case of continuous provision of inconsistent data, the WEB site manager reserves the rights to suspend access to the SET Web services.
Note that the outcomes of this application are purely indicative of the possible existence of a gap between your performance and a benchmark based on a set of anonymous factories in your industrial sector.
How data are matched to companies (click here)
The data provided are identified in the SET database by a randomly generated Unique ID (e.g. 'EBLHS87519AM_01_2014') jointly with a PIN (which must be kept confidential).
The Unique ID is associated to the data of one factory in one year (for example in 'EBLHS87519AM_01_2014' the value '01_2014' stands for factory n. 01 and year 2014; while ‘EBLHS87519AM’, namely the Enterprise Unique ID, identifies an anonymous enterprise).
The PIN is valid for one company and it can refer to one or several factories and years based as data are introduced in the SET Tool.
How data are kept confidential (click here)
The Unique ID and PIN are managed in an anonymous and untraceable manner in the SET database.
The data of your company are identified by the Unique ID (e.g. 'EBLHS87519AM') and the system or the Web manager have no record which match such a Unique ID to your company.
Accordingly only the company’s personnel generating the Unique ID are able to associate data to an actual company.
